Jeremiah 17:14 - "Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved."

One of the many gifts that Jesus has given to His Church is the gift of healing prayer. Our Lady of the Ridge - St. Linus Parish has Healing Prayer Ministers who have completed an extensive formation program for this ministry. They are available to you as the need arises in your life.

You may struggle with past hurt and pain, physical ailments, difficult experiences from childhood or teenage years, or failed adult commitments. When in pain, you cannot be your best self. Spending time in prayer ministry is one way to offer the pain to Jesus and allow Him to begin a healing process.

WHAT IS HEALING MINISTRY?

• It is a time dedicated to you and your prayer needs.
• It is focused and in-depth prayer.
• DOES NOT take the place of counseling.
• DOES NOT take the place of the Sacraments (Reconciliation or Anointing of the Sick).
• IS NOT spiritual direction, the solving of a problem or the giving of advice.

WHERE DOES HEALING PRAYER MINISTRY TAKE PLACE?

• At the Our Lady of Ridge Site - Parish Center at 10810 Oxford Avenue in Chicago Ridge, IL 60415
• Takes place in a private and confidential setting.

WHO WILL PRAY WITH ME?

• Two or three members of the parish healing prayer ministry who have completed a formation program.

WHAT NEEDS ARE TYPICALLY BROUGHT FOR PRAYER?

• Job loss.
• Financial difficulties.
• Physical illness.
• Strained or broken relationships.
• Difficult experiences from childhood.
• Grief (loss of loved one).

WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME?

• An openness to explain the needs, hopes, and desires that bring you to healing prayer ministry.
• A willingness to participate in prayer.
• An openness to Jesus' healing presence.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

• You will have an opportunity to share your particular needs and concerns.
• Healing prayer ministers will help you experience God's love meeting you in your need.
• Ministry can include prayers, songs, scripture, or silence.
