St. Linus Church offers many different types of opportunities for people to practice their faith by serving the community. We regularly welcome newcomers to participate in our many varied ministries. For additional information about any of them or to join them, please contact the rectory at 708-422-2400. Among the many ministries that the parish offers are:
LITURGICAL MINISTRIES
Hundreds of parishioners serve the parish community by serving as: greeters welcoming the congregation to church, as ushers in caring for the needs of the parishioners during services, as lectors proclaiming the Word of God, as Ministers of the Eucharist in reverently distributing Holy Communion, as deacons assisting at Mass, as altar servers serving at Mass, and as music ministers by being members of our fine adult choir, the adult music ensemble, the Voices of Faith teen choir, and the children’s Spirit Choir. In addtion, parishioners join as sacristans in preparing our church for liturgical services. We regularly seek new parishioners to join these ministries.

FAMILY MINISTRY
St. Linus Church has many activities throughout the year that seek to minister to all the families in the parish. Social events like trips to attend plays and musicals; health-minded programs like the blood pressure monitoring program on the fourth Sunday of each month; semi-annual speakers on health related topics; all are part of this ministry.

MINISTERS OF THOSE IN NEED
Our parish St. Vincent De Paul Society is one of the most active in the entire archdiocese. It regularly holds semi-annual clothing drives, monthly food drives for the Sisters of St. Casimir Food Pantry in the Marquette Park area in Chicago, as well as a yearly food drive for St. Columbanus Parish. It also assists all calls for aide that come to the parish and regularly tends to the needs of parishioners.
Our St. Linus St. Vincent de Paul Society is always in need of people to deepen their Vincentian spirit of friendship, and to be responsive to the Christian calling to help those in need. If you would be willing to share some of your time and talents in this work of charity, please call Ed Worner at 708-606-9370.

MINISTRY OF PRAYER
For over fifteen years, St. Linus has had a twenty-four hour per day, seven day a week, Chapel for the Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Hundreds of people participate as Adorers in this ministry. We also have a ministry of prayer that engages homebound parishioners to pray for the needs of our parish.

PRO-LIFE
St. Linus has the most senior parish Pro-Life group in the Archdiocese. They seek to educate the parish on Pro-Life issues and values. The parish also has a long and happy co-founding relationship with The Courage Program, based at neighboring St. Germaine Parish in Oak Lawn, that offers direct assistance to unwed pregnant women and young mothers, who may lack family support at this challenging time of their lives. During the month of January we hold a bassinette drive for items for newborns and babies. The parish also offers a monthly day of prayer for Pro-Life in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel.
