PBJ - WHAT IS IT?
Hi, my name is Rob Macchia and I would like to introduce you to a ministry that is very near and dear to me - PBJ. The first thing people say when you mention it is WHAT’S THAT? It is NOT peanut butter and jelly and it is NOT a formal Bible study. It stands for Prayer, Bible and Jesus. This group is about 20 years old and started in a parishioner’s (Jane’s) kitchen. It is a very informal faith-sharing group that is Spirit-led.
On a typical night, we will begin with prayer. Then as a group we will decide what we want to read from the Bible and anyone can volunteer to be the reader. Any person in the group can stop the reader at any time and say, “This is what I think this means” which will lead to great discussions. We talk about how the Bible is relevant in our everyday lives. No one person in the group has all the wisdom, but everybody has a piece. There is a scripture that says, “Where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” I can honestly say during our meetings the Lord shows up.
I would like to invite each of you to join us in the near future. Our next meeting is January 17 at 7:30 pm in Room 1 South of the Parish Center, which is the building directly south of the Main Church on the OLOR campus facing Oxford. Ring the doorbell and somebody will let you in. You can just come, there is no commitment and no prior Bible knowledge is necessary. Bring a Bible and I hope to see you there. It has truly been a blessing in my life!
Meetings are on the 3rd Tuesday of the month - Future dates: January 17 and February 21
If you have any questions, feel free to call, Rob Macchia at 708-983-9140.
