Mrs. Lehnerer’s 1st grade class could be found in church often during Lent praying and learning
about the Season of Lent. This was one of the times they prayed the Stations of the Cross.

Seamus Payne from Room 14 working out a math problem about money on the
Preschool BrightLink projector. When he returns from Easter break his classroom
will have its own BrightLink as we continue to update and install new technology.

The Leprechaun made a visit to 3 year old Preschool and left them some tasty treats!
The students had a great time looking for the Leprechaun and learning about
St. Patrick’s and the fun traditions that go along with it.

To enhance the money lesson in 1st grade Math the teachers put together a store where
students could use real money to buy things. Some of our wonderful parent and grandparent
volunteers came to school and acted as clerks. The students had fun while learning!

Mrs. O’Connell’s 1st grade class won an ice cream party for being one of two classes
to bring in the most Pie Five receipts. Room 29 tied with them at 59% participation.

Preschool had a special visitor!
The Cat in The Hat came to visit and read them stories.
This was a wonderful way to top off a week of activities to celebrate the birthday of Dr. Seuss!

In the spirit of Lent, National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) members and candidates
in grades six to eight took a field trip to Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Aurora.

Mrs. O’Connell’s class is practicing their knowledge of doubles facts.
Madison won the championship by solving 17 + 17 = 34.

Students, parent chaperones, and the school moderators worked
in teams of 6 and packed 104 cases of food. The food was destined for Haiti and El Salvador.
St. Linus students prayed over the food they packed, listened to a small talk about
FMSC’s mission and watched a video depicting how the food impacts the lives of the recipients.
Finally, students got to taste a small sample of the food.

Our 3-year-old Preschool class celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday with stories,
art projects and special visitors from 8th grade to read them their favorite Dr. Seuss books.

Here is one of the 8th graders, Brianna Catral, reading “Oh The Places You’ll Go!”
to the 4-year-old Preschool class while Natalie Heilmann waits in the wings for her turn.

4-year-old Preschool also celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday!
They made crafts, read stories, used the BrightLink to play games and learn more about Dr. Seuss.

One of our 1st grade classes performed a Reader’s Theatre Play called
“Show and Tell Day” for the 4-year-old preschool class.
Thanks for introducing our littlest Hawks to theatre!

Mrs. O’Connell’s 1st graders using the iPads to practice their math facts on Math Zombies!
What a great learning tool!

Every Friday at 2 pm during Lent our school community
comes together to pray the Stations of the Cross.
Each week a different grade level handles leading the reading,
singing and being the altar servers.
