Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe Feast Day Prayer Service and Reenactment

Our 1st Annual Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 2016 was a Tremendous Success

Our inaugural celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe was well attended by many St. Linus Parishioners, their families, and visitors to our parish. This event was chaired by Teresa Haro-Grajeda and the prayer service reenactment was chaired by Veronica Dueñas. Both ladies along with dedicated committee members and volunteers did an outstanding job planning and organizing a very beautiful afternoon in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The 12 pm mass was attended by nearly 800 people, and we had about 450 people stay for the prayer service at which several school children reenacted the apparitions of Our Lady to Juan Diego. The liturgy concluded with a Mariachi band serenading Our Lady as children gathered around her to place red roses at her feet.

About 300 people attended the reception in the Cardiff Center which included music by Mariachi Angeles de Puebla, a performance by The Mexican Folkloric Dance Company of Chicago, and authentic Mexican food items.  Generous donations from parishioners, friends, and local businesses made it possible to offer this event free of charge to attendees this year.

Planning for our second, and now annual, Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe has already begun!  We are very excited and blessed to have this event again this December so save the date, SUNDAY, December 10, 2017.
